Using Action verbs in Resumes and CVs
How you present your experience in both your Resume or CV or at interview is critical to your success.
The focus should be on accomplishments rather than duties. And these accomplishments must be directly relevant to the prospective employer's needs and selection criteria.
Examples of action verbs for specific experience and skill-sets
Experience summaries should be written for maximum impact and be consistent in focus. Emphasise end results rather than input efforts. For example "identified" and not "investigated".
An accomplishment focused Resume or CV
Consider the skills required by the employer. Compare these to the skills you have acquired and honed through your experiences. Concisely detail what you achieved and how you did so. Consider whether you can provide context to these accomplishments by using metrics ("delivered three months early and 20% under the $1m budget"). Aim to provide tangible examples which the prospective employer or recruiter can easily understand.
